A Letter to Momo

Reel Anime 2013

So Madman has announced the third movie to be screening across theaters in Australia and New Zealand - and it's none other than A Letter to Momo! A Letter to Momo is a 2012 film, directed by none other than Hiroyuki (who did Jin-Roh Wolf Brigade). It's a family-film that is supposed to appeal to kids and adults alike with emotional drama, a touching story, and heart-warming comedy. The visuals are meant to be stunning; the story, comedy and drama well melded; and it will be a delight to see on the big screen. You can easily imagine how excited I am for its release!
Madman's trailer does spoil a bit too much however, but hey! I won't be picky.
Last Anime Reel my favorite film - to no surprise - was Wolf Children. Everybody loved that movie upon its release. It quickly rose to one of the highest rated movies (and anime in general) on Myanimelist at 8.94/10 (which is no easy feat, to achieve a score like that on MAL.) Let's hope that this will be the Wolf Children of 2013's Reel Anime.

So now there's only one more anime film to go. It will be interesting to see what they choose. So far the lineup is -
  1. Evangelion 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (Third in the 'Redo Evagelion' movie franchise.)
  2. Re:009 Cyborg (From the director of Ghost in the Shell: SAC and Eden of the East)
  3. A Letter to Momo
  4. (?)
Ugh...I hate waiting. ;A;

So want to catch Reel Anime on the big screen? Well first you'll have to either live in the few select cities of Australia or New Zealand. It screens late 2013, and further info will be given at Perth's Supanova Pop Culture Expo event (June 28-30.) For more info check out Madman's site at www.madman.co.au or www.madman.co.nz.

This is Reel Anime's first time as a yearly event, so let's hope it continues that way!
